After a sold out maiden voyage at Le Poisson Rouge with Flight Facilities in March, we're back for another night for the ages with our main man Goldroom. The western hemisphere's finest purveyor of summer heat for a long minute now, Goldroom brings his live setup back to NYC for the first time since his sold out live debut at Popshop in April. Warming things up we've got Russia's finest, Tesla Boy, in the main support slot, and it's all going down September 18th at 10pm. Get your tickets HERE, this one's gonna be a burner.
Ellie Goulding is currently sitting pretty atop of the pop throne across the pond, as she celebrates her first ever #1 single in the UK this week with "Burn". And what better way to ring in the occasion than with a fiery Magic Man remix of the track in question, as the wiz kids cast a spell on our dreams with the charm of a young Houdini, shattering through the stratosphere and emerging unscathed like the synth saviors they are. Magic Man release their brand new debut EP proper on Neon Gold next month, keep an eye out for more info here soon.
You guys, St. Lucia's debut album is out in less than two months and we can assure you you're not even close to ready. It's an all-your-dreams-coming-true-at-once kind of listening experience, and we can't wait to share it with the world as our first-ever album release on Neon Gold this fall. In the meantime, St. L's hitting the road with Two Door Cinema Club next month for a coast-to-coast US tour, and today unveils the record's breathtaking cover art. And now, to bring it all full circle, our first loves Passion Pit have remixed St. Lucia's current summer anthem, "Elevate," to help make the wait that much more bearable. When The Night is released October 8th on Neon Gold / Columbia Records, mark your calendars.
We've been singing Smallpools praises on full blast this summer - practically on a megaphone - and after rolling out their debut single and live show earlier this summer, it's time we join them for another landmark as they top the marquee for the first time making their headline debut on Popshop West next month. Supporting the fast-rising pop phenoms on what's sure to be another sold out bill are up-and-coming local heatseekers, Nightmare & the Cat and the almighty Mvscles, as we look to throw down one for the ages September 4th at The Echo. With advance tickets still available HERE but already dangerously close to selling out, lock your tix down today and join us for what's set to be a Popshop West for the ages.
LA's new kings of summer Smallpools wrapped up their maiden voyage across the states at The Echoplex last night with one of the tightest, stadium-ready sets we've ever seen from a band at this stage. Today, they keep the magic rolling with a brand new remix, courtesy of our very own wonder boys Magic Man, who take The Pools' breakout single "Dreaming" into deep space and then some. The Magicians switch off the sun on this one, filling you with pop wanderlust and drowning out everything in their celestial path with hypnagogic synths that make your head swirl. It's an impossibly handsome power play that only further cements Magic Man as some of the best new remixers in the game, but hey, that's just our completely objective and not-at-all-biased opinion on the matter.
Brooklyn's own bright young things, Little Daylight, have been smashing it out of the park for the better part of the last year, and this week marks the arrival of their much-anticipated debut EP proper Tunnel Vision, out tomorrow on Capitol. Today, they've been kind enough to throw us the exclusive premiere of "Restart" - a Daylight live favorite from day one that instantly reminds you of all the reasons you fell in love with the three-piece in the first place. With space age synths and frontwoman Nikki Taylor effortlessly channeling Emily Haines in the winsome femme fatale role she was born to play, it's a synth-laden timewarp that floods you with '00s nostalgia in all the right ways. Don't miss them live as they hit the road next month with another Neon Gold favorite, Charli XCX.
Chill, Sweden. Even for just like a second, there's other nations trying to get some shine in the pop game y'know? The newest starlet from the pop graceland to bless us with her presence goes by the name of Marlene ∞, presumably pronounced "Marlene Forever", but it's hard to ever know for sure with those crazy Swedefolk. Debut single "Bon Voyage" is a temperamental ocean of salty-smooth brilliance, as her mood bubbles to the surface atop buoyant synth flourishes and her silky come-hither vocals lock you into a sensual R&B beat. Think Yadi meets Kate Boy, or just the perfect better-late-than-never addition to your summer soundtrack.
